Black sheep in journalism exposed: Sethi

KARACHI: Senior political analyst Najam Sethi on Friday said around a dozen of black sheep in journalism had become exposed.

Talking in Geo News programme ‘Aapis Ki Baat’, Sethi said in his opinion, the picture of ISI chief should not have been shown on Geo, adding that an unconditional apology must been submitted when the mistake was recognised. However, he said, it was too late in the given situation, as the ISI did not change its position even when Geo backed off. In these circumstances, Geo transmission was suspended while it also remained on air at the same time.

Sethi said had the punishment of 15-day suspension and Rs 10 million fine been imposed earlier, the state of affairs would not have reached the present stage. He expressed the hope that the situation would improve after 15 days. And if some TV channels, establishment and cable operators did not change their attitude, then it would raise several questions.

Sethi said he was disappointed with the black sheep in journalism, as they played a depressing role for their capitalist owners; however, around a dozen of them were exposed before the people.
