QUETTA: The Balochistan High Court (BHC) Monday reserved judgment in a constitutional petition of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) Regional General Manager Gul Muhammad Khan Kakar against the order of the Pemra chairman regarding his removal from the post.
The division bench, comprising BHC Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and Justice Muhammad Hashim Khan Kakar, heard the constitutional petition and reserved the judgment after hearing the both parties. Muhammad Aslam Chishti, advocate, appeared on behalf of Gul Muhammad Kakar while Shahid Mehmood Kohkar, advocate, represented Pemra.
Gul Muhammad had challenged his removal from Pemra on March 2, 2011. He was removed from his office by the Pemra chairman, who had withdrawn his services from Pemra and sent him back to his parent department i.e. Balochistan University.
However, Gul Kakar approached the court for justice. On May 18, the BHC withheld the Pemra decision and reinstated Kakar on his post allowing him to continue to serve in the authority.
