Ban on phone calls thru Internet likely
KARACHI- The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has reportedly given the final shape to the policy of putting a ban on making telephone calls through the Internet.
According to informed sources, PTA is losing revenues of millions of rupees in the head of telephone calls to foreign countries made through various Internet messenger services. The Internet users are taking the benefits of various messenger services and talk for hours.
The draft of the policy in this connection will soon be submitted to the Ministry of Science and Technology.
The Internet service providers have expressed that these sorts of policies on the part of government will harm the growth of Internet in the country.
