Ban on educators’ recruitment relaxed

LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has allowed the recruitment of educators in computer science and general science, drawing masters (DM) and physical education teachers (PET) in relaxation of ban imposed on recruitments against BS-6 to BS-15 posts.

According to an official handout, the recruitment process had been stopped on account of the ban. With a view to meeting the shortage of teaching staff, the school education department had moved a summery to the chief minister to relax the ban on recruitment of educators in computer science and general science, drawing masters and physical education teachers.

A circular addressed to DCOs and education EDOs states that the competent authority has approved the recruitment against the posts of Secondary School Educator (Computer Science), Secondary School Educator (Science) and Senior Elementary School Educator (Science, DM and PET) which remained vacant due to non-availability of the candidates and against 1,657 and 221 posts converted into SESE (Science) and SSE (Computer Science) in relaxation of ban imposed vide letter dated May 12, 2010. It has further been desired that the recruitment process may be completed without delay.

The circular further states that appointment orders will be issued before July 20, 2010 while joining will be allowed at the end of summer vacation. However, if any short training is arranged during summer vacation, the selected incumbents will be required to attend.
