The digital social media policy aims to develop a comprehensive framework for regulating social media, promoting its positive use, and formalizing the province’s approach to digital media governance. The decisions were made during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti on October 22.
The RTI Commission, supposed to be formed under the Balochistan Right To Information Act, 2021, has been subject to delays. The Balochistan Union of Journalists (BUJ) welcomed the formation of the RTI Commission and the appointment of “experienced and working journalists” to it. In a statement, BUJ’s President Khalil Ahmed said it was a “significant measure for the promotion of transparency, which will effectively ensure the fundamental right of public access to information.”
