Bahawalpur media groups merge

BAHAWALPUR: The Young Journalist Association of Pakistan’s Bahawalpur chapter has decided to merge into the Bahawalpur Ittehad Group in the best interest of the local journalists.

Dialogues between both the groups had been underway for months. In the Tuesday’s meeting, Bahawalpur Press Club President Jalaluddin Bhatti, Secretary General Masoodur Rehman, Election Committee Chairman Qari Attaullah Azad, Touseef Ahmed Bhatti and Baqul Mohsin represented the Bahawalpur Ittehad Group. Likewise, YJAP President Ather Farooq along with other office-bearers including Mehmood Zaheer, Mian Fakher Jahan, Asim Durrani and Ali Raza represented the association.

After the detailed discussion, it was decided that both the groups will work together for the local journalists’ welfare. YJAP President Ather Farooq Awan said that the merger decision had been taken for the journalists’ welfare. Press Club President Jalaluddin Bhatti said that it was the need of hour.

“I welcome all my friends from the core of my heart and hope that the mistakes committed by us in the past will not be repeated,” he said. Both the leaders announced that an all-out effort will be made for journalists’ welfare. On the occasion, Baqul Mohsin said, “Due to the disputes between the groups, we faced so many problems.”
