Fazil Jamili Leads Democrats Panel to Victory in Karachi Press Club Elections

In the Karachi Press Club elections for 2024-25 held on December 28, the Democrats Panel emerged victorious across several key positions. Fazil Jamili of Geo Digital won the presidency with 560 votes, outperforming his nearest competitor, Ayub Jan Sarhandi, who received 273 votes. Other presidential candidates, M. Javed Qureshi and Mohammad Arif Anjum, secured four and three votes, respectively.

Irshad Khokhar of Daily Ummat secured the position of vice president. For the role of secretary, Mohammad Sohail Afzal Khan of Daily Jang triumphed with 604 votes, defeating Qamar Rizvi who garnered 237 votes. Imran Ayub of Dawn was elected treasurer, obtaining 668 votes against his opponent Aftab Hussain’s 149 votes.

Additionally, Mohammad Munsif of Daily Jang was elected joint secretary after receiving 688 votes, far surpassing Saeed Anwar Khan who managed 119 votes. The governing body members elected included Abdul Hafeez Baloch of Samaa TV, who received the highest number of votes at 741, alongside Hammad Hussain of Daily Jasarat, Kafeel Ahmed of BOL TV, Mamona Siddiqui of 365 Channel, Manzoor Sheikh of Sindh TV, Mohammad Farooq of AP, and Qazi Mohammad Yasir of ARY NEWS.

The elections witnessed active participation, with 871 of the 1,507 eligible members casting their votes between 9am and 5pm.
