By: Ahmad Noorani

ISLAMABAD: An attempt to arrest a defiant PTA officer, who had objected to and highlighted serious loopholes in the process of the auctioning of $2 billion (expected) 3G licence was foiled by the authority’s employees.

Dr Khawar, Member Technical of PTA was escorted to safety by the employees of PTA after a raid at the authority’s headquarters in Islamabad.Dr Khawar had also objected to the criteria adopted for the appointment of consultants on very hefty packages for the auction of 3G license.

Sources told The News that that when Dr Khawar started raising objections regarding different issues pertaining to 3G auction, the then bosses of PTA had moved a complaint against him on some trumped up charges. It was a very humiliatingand a scene to be remembered for the officers and employees of PTA when senior and respectable officers in grade-21 were roughed up by the raiding team.

Farooq Awan, Chairman PTA, whose appointment has been declared as illegal by the Lahore High Court was not available for his version despite six hour long attempts of The News to reach him.
