Attack on Press Club widely condemned

KARACHI:March 2: Various political, social and religious organisations have slammed the Sunday night’s attack on the Karachi Press Club (KPC) and demanded of the Sindh government to apprehend the attackers forthwith.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Co-ordination Committee of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement condemned the attack on KPC and said that it was a democratic right of every individual to raise voice for his legal demands and hold peaceful protest. But the attack on the Club is against the democratic norms and is an act of violence, it added. The Committee demanded of Sindh Chief Minister Ali Muhammad Maher to order action against the protestors who attacked the Club.

Beside, the Co-ordination Committee also slammed the suicide attack on an Imambargah in Rawalpindi and said that it was a conspiracy to stir sectarian riots in the country. The party appealed to the people, belonging to all schools of thought, to remain united and foil such conspiracies being hatched by unscrupulous elements.

Separately, legislators belonging to the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) also flayed the attack on the KPC and termed it a conspiracy to destroy peace of the city.
