Attack on Minute Mirror chief editor’s family condemned

Pakistan Press Foundation

Journalists protested outside the Punjab Assembly and condemned the attack on Minute Mirror Chief Editor Ali Sajjad’s family that occurred on Tuesday.

The protest came following Tuesday’s attack wherein two Toyota Hilux Revo vehicles followed and rammed the car in which the family of Minute Mirror’s chief editor was travelling. Both vehicles escaped from the scene quickly with witnesses describing that the incident was not an accident and appeared deliberate.

While protesting outside Punjab Assembly on Wednesday, Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists Secretary General and former Lahore Press Club president Arshad Ansari said that a regrettable incident took place on Tuesday where Minute Mirror Chief Editor Ali Sajjad’s family was attacked in a ‘pre-planned’ manner.

He expressed regret over the fact that it had been 24 hours and the FIR had not been registered. He said that Punjab Home Minister Hashim Dogar had been informed that Lahore Police was behaving in such a manner and the FIR had been not been registered even after such a big incident in which a senior journalist’s family was targeted.

Later, Punjab Home Minister Hashim Dogar, while talking to media personnel, said that an FIR had been registered.
