Atta for setting up global IT university
ISLAMABAD- Prof Dr Attaur Rehman has urged the global community to establish world class IT university, which can disseminate the knowledge and education to the remote corners of the world.
The Minister said the Global IT University would help open avenues for exchange of information and knowledge more rapidly then it is taking place today. This step would be a great leap forward to bridge the gap between developing and developed countries.
Addressing the conference the Minister said Pakistan today offers the most suitable environment for investment in IT field. He gave a detailed account of policy initiatives that government have taken to develop IT sector. He particularly explained the incentives given by Government in the budget to software industry.
He said the technology driven globalising world economy is moving at a breathtaking speed the so-called creative destruction has played havoc with the social and economic development of the developing countries by marginalising them. Prof. Atta said they are bearing the cost of globalisation without having any share in its benefits.
