ISLAMABAD: An Islamabad anti-terrorism court (ATC) has decided to indict four people suspected of uploading ‘blasphemous’ content on social media on Sept 12.

ATC Judge Shahrukh Arjumand decided to indict the suspects after the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) submitted a list of charges against them.

The court extended the suspects’ judicial remand until Sept 12, and directed investigators to submit a separate charge sheet against suspects who have not yet been arrested.

The FIA has arrested four people in the case, who are all in jail on judicial custody remand for their alleged involvement in publishing blasphemous content online.

The FIA registered an FIR under sections 295-A, 295-B, 295-C, 298, 298-A, 298-B and 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code, read with section 11 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act and sections 6(f), 7(h), 8 and 9 of the Anti-Terrorism Act on March 19.

The identity of the suspects has not been disclosed.
