Asma condemns blast at Nawa-i-Waqt
LAHORE- The lawyers of the Lahore High Court Bar staged a rally to record their protest against lawlessness and increase of terrorism activities in the country. The demonstrators condemned the government’s failure in controlling terrorism activities.
Asma Jehangir addressing the rally said that blast at Nawa-i-Waqt office, Karachi, was a direct threat to the freedom of Press whereas the government had been claiming that media was working freely. She said that people were silent over the wrong doings being done with them and it was only the media which highlighted their issues but now the media was being threatened through different tactics while the government was not taking any strict action in this regard.
The rally attended by a large number of lawyers was also addressed by Hafiz Abdur Rehman Ansari, Sibtain Akhtar Bukhari, Ghulam Nabi Bhatti, Asif Mahmood Cheema, Rasheed Murtaza Qureshi and Rana Ameer Ali.
