Arshad A. Zuberi, Deputy Chief Executive of Business Recorder Group, Passes Away at 72

Arshad A. Zuberi, the Deputy Chief Executive of the Business Recorder Group, passed away on December 29 at the age of 72 following a prolonged illness. He leaves behind a wife and three children.

Zuberi earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the United States in 1973. He joined the Business Recorder Group’s Apex Printry as Technical Director in 1974, where his initial responsibilities included the security printing of bank documents. He later ascended to the roles of printer and publisher of Business Recorder in 1981 and was promoted to Deputy Chief Executive in 1985, overseeing administration, accounts, and advertising.

Throughout his career, Zuberi was actively involved in media associations, serving multiple times as the Secretary General of the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) and as the founding member and first Secretary General of the Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA). He was widely respected within the industry for his contributions, particularly in resolving issues faced by broadcasters.

Senior government officials, journalist bodies, and members of civil society have widely condoled his death.

“Arshad Zuberi was a highly respected member of the Board and during his various tenures in the executive committee of PBA he was instrumental in resolving many issues faced by the broadcasters,” the PBA said in a statement offering their condolences. 

The APNS offered condolences to his family, describing him as a “veteran publisher who served the newspaper industry with enthusiasm and great zeal.”

Funeral prayers were held on December 30 at the Noorul Islam mosque near Zamzama Park, DHA in Karachi.
