Arrest of culprits behind attack on journalist demanded
The various journalist bodies, press clubs and unions on Saturday expressed their concern over Police failure to trace and arrest the culprits behind attack on their colleague one week ago and called upon relevant authorities and law enforcement agencies to bring the culprits to justice without any further delay failing which they would launch a protest drive till acceptance of their demands.
The President of Tarnol press club and tehsil reporter of national Urdu daily Asim Meer came under masked gunmen fire when he was going towards a local cement factory near Taxila on October 1.
He was also accompanied by two other office bearers of the press club who also remained unhurt during the firing however their vehicle was badly damaged.
Attock Press Club, Tarnol Press Club, Press club Taxila, Taxila Wah Press club, tehsil union of journalists, Gandhara Union of Journalists and Hassanabdal Press Club in their joint meeting held here condemned the incident and called upon authorities concerned to take stock of the situation and bring the culprits to task without any further delay. They announced to stage a protest if the attackers were not put behind the bars within two weeks.
