APNS welcomes Information Ministry decisions

RAWALPINDI: The All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) has welcomed the decisions of the meeting of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the APNS held on March 05.

According to a press release, the meeting had decided that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting would revert to the earlier practice of allocation of advertisements with the following changes as agreed upon by the two sides.

The government quota for advertisements would be enhanced from 25% to 50%. The Press Information Department (PID) will be entitled to use the quota of 50%. The allocation of government quota would be 25% for regional press, 20% for small and medium sized newspapers from Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi-Islamabad, 5% for periodicals and 50% for the media would be reserved for major/mainstream newspapers.

The client ministries/divisions/departments would be entitled to recommend media to PID for placing their advertisements.The final authority would rest with PID to delete, add or make any changes in the selection of media.
