KARACHI (PPI): The Regional Committee Sindh of All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) has urged the Sindh government to clear the long outstanding bills of a number of publications without further delay.

Convener of Regional Committee of Sindh APNS, Jabbar Khattak while announcing decision of the meeting held on February 23, ’99, stated that problems of the member publications in Sindh were thoroughly considered at the committee’s meeting and observed that bills amounting to Rs. 140 million were long outstanding against the Sindh government advertisements resulting in financial crunch for many publications, said a release on Wednesday.

The APNS had held meetings in Dec 98 with the advisor to Governor Sindh, Dost Muhammad Faizi and information department officials wherein it was assured that Sindh govt would arrange to clear the dues within a couple of weeks but there was no positive development despite the lapse of two months.

The member publications of the APNS are pressing hard for early payments and in view of the financial hardships faced by them, the Regional Committees of APNS has decided to apprise the Governor Sindh on the predicament of the publications based in Sindh and request to ensure dues were cleared without further delay.
