APNS office bearers elected
KARACHI: The annual meeting of the APNS General Council, held here on Saturday at the APNS House, has elected the Executive Committee for the year 2013-14.
According to a press release, the general council meeting unanimously elected Sarmad Ali as President, Dr Jabbar Khattak as Senior Vice President, Masood Hamid as Secretary General, Imtinan Shahid as Vice President, S M Munir Jilani as Joint Secretary and Waseem Ahmed as Finance Secretary of the Society.
The meeting held under the chairmanship of Sarmad Ali, President for the year 2012-13, unanimously approved the report of the Executive Committee for the preceding year as well as the annual accounts of the Society.
The General Council attended by 147 members from across the country, formed an Election Commission, headed by Younus Riaz, and Usman Arab Saati and Nasir Daad Baloch as members.
The Election Commission conducted the election of the cabinet and Executive Committee for the year 2013-14. Following were elected un-opposed:
Karachi: Anwar Farooqi (Daily Aghaz), Dr Jabbar Khattak (Daily Awami Awaz), Arshad A Zuberi (Daily Business Recorder), Mukhtar Aqil (Daily Jurat), Najamuddin Sheikh (Daily Deyanat) and Ilyas Shakir (Daily Qaumi Akhbar);
Lahore: Sarmad Ali (Daily Jang), Masood Hamid (Daily Dawn), Imtinan Shahid (Daily Khabrain), Rameeza Majid Nizami (Daily Nawa-i-Waqt), Umer Mujib Shami (Daily Pakistan), Arif Nizami (Daily Pakistan Today);
Rawalpindi/Islamabad: Mehtab Khan (Daily Ausaf), Khushnood Ali Khan (Daily Sahafat);
Balochistan: Waseem Ahmed (Daily Awam), Syed Faseih Iqbal (Daily Balochistan Times);
Khyber Pakhtukhwa: Syed Ayaz Badshah (Daily Mashriq, Peshawar), Pir Sufaid Shah Hamdard (Daily Wahdat, Peshawar).
Sindh excluding Karachi: Javed Mehr Shamsi (Daily Kaleem, Sukkur), Muhammad Aslam Kazi (Daily Kawish, Hyderabad);
Punjab (excluding Lahore/Rwp/Ibd): Mumtaz A Tahir (Daily Aftab, Multan), Humayon Tariq (Daily Business Report, Faisalabad) and S M Munir Jilani (Daily Paigham, Faisalabad).
General Seats (Metropolitan Dailies): Aijazul Haq (Daily Express, Karachi), Faisal Zahid Malik (Daily Pakistan Observer, Islamabad).
General Seats (Regional Dailies): Humayon Gulzar (Daily Sayadat, Bahawalpur), Jamil Ather (Daily Tijarat, Gujranwala);
Periodicals Seats: Aamer Mahmood (Monthly Kiran Digest, Karachi), Mushtaq A Qureshi (Monthly Naey Ufaq, Karachi), Sardar Khan Niazi (Monthly Naya Rukh, Karachi) and Dr Waqar Yousuf Azeemi (Monthly Roohani Digest, Karachi).
