APNS, CPNE condole Adnan Shahid’s death

KARACHI: The All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) and the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) on Saturday condoled the sad and sudden demise of Adnan Shahid, Editor of daily ‘The Post’ and son of veteran publisher Zia Shahid of Khabrain Group of Publications.

In a joint statement, Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman, President, Mujeeb-ur-Rahman Shami, Sr Vice President, Inquilab Matri, Vice President, Kazi Asad Abid, Secretary General, Masood Hamid, Joint Secretary, Anwar Farooqui, Finance Secretary and Dr Tanvir A Tahir, Executive Director of APNS stated that the news of the demise of a very young and dynamic editor, Adnan Shahid, was a great shock for the industry, which has been deprived of a talented and brilliant editor.

They prayed that Almighty Allah may rest the departed soul in peace and give patience and courage to the bereaved colleagues and family to bear the great loss.

The APNS Secretary General stated that the Provincial Committee of the APNS was arranging condolence meetings at their respective provincial headquarters.

Meanwhile, on behalf of the Standing Committee and the office-bearers of CPNE, and their own behalf, Fasih Iqbal, President, and Wamiq A Zuberi, Secretary General, Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors, in a joint statement have expressed their profound grief and shock on the sad demise of Adnan Shahid.

They have stated that the news of the death of Adnan Shahid, who was a very young and talented editor, was a big loss for the industry. The CPNE members prayed that Allah Almighty grant the departed soul a place in the heavenly abode and give strength to the family to bear this colossal loss with courage and fortitude.-PR
