APNS condoles Mahmood Khawer’s death
KARACHI: The Periodical Committee of the APNS as its meeting held here on Thursday under the chairmanship of its convener, Amir Mahmood, condoled the sad demise of Mahmood Khawer, editor/publisher Imran digest.
The members expressed concern over robbery committed at office of monthly Amali Science Karachi and urged the police authorities to provide security to newspapers and periodicals. The committee considered problems faced by periodical publications due to increase in cargo tariff of railway and post offices which has resulted in enormous increase in costs of delivery of publications. The committee demanded that the concessional rates as available in the past be restored.
The committee noted with concern the PIA has withdrawn the system to issue concessional cards to journalist community and requested the chairman PIA to restore the concessional fare to journalists of newspapers and periodicals. The committee also requested the administration of Bhoja Airline, aero Asia and Shaheen Airlines to allow concessional fares to journalist fraternity.
The committee also decided to hold a seminar to highlight the importance of periodical media in marketing in November.
The meeting was attended by Aamir Mahmood, convener, Waqar Yousuf Azeemi (Roohani Digest), Qutubuddin (Asian Medical News), Ibrahim Ghouri (Nae Ufaq), Ahson Ali Rizvi (Amli Science) and Syed Afzal Imam (Newsline).
