LAHORE: ANWAR Maqsood’s stage drama, ‘Sawa 14 August’ was presented at Al-Hamra Arts Council here on Friday.

The drama, a sequel of Anwar Maqsood’s earlier work ‘Ponay 14 August’, is directed by Dawar Mehmood and presented by KopyKats Productions. The drama presents Maqsood’s thought-provoking ideas about Pakistan’s political fate in a light ironical way. The play bringing Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Zia-ul-Haq, face to face with Quaid-e-Azam in the modern era, manages to mention all the problem’s currently facing Pakistan – drones, negotiations with Taliban, assassination of Nawab Akbar Bugti, Pakistan International Airlines, Railways, General Musharraf’s arrest and target killings to list a few.

Anwar Maqsood has done a brilliant job of penning down the turbulent history of Pakistan in such a light manner that it not only provides entertainment, but also leaves much food for thought for the viewers. Anwar Maqsood said, “The main idea behind the play is to give the young generation a perspective about the political history of our beloved homeland.”
