Islamabad—Minister of State for Information and Telecommunications, Mrs Anusha Rahman on Monday directed National ICT Research and Development Fund to prepare a comprehensive proposal for establishment of a National Incubation Centre. The National Incubation Centre would help facilitate startups and young graduates, she said this while chairing 42nd Board of Directors meeting of the fund here.

Anusha Rahman directed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the fund, Syed Muhammad Asif Rumi to come up with the proposal in the next board meeting. “It is need of time that young IT graduates are encouraged for entrepreneurship by providing them a conducive environment to begin and flourish their own IT businesses,” she said. The Minister said, “We are pursuing three-pronged strategy for Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) development throughout the country which includes provision of subsidies for laying fiber optics and broadband proliferation especially in un-served/underserved areas), infrastructure development and technical training.

Therefore, “We are simultaneously working on all these three components,” she added. The Board felicitated the Minister on Global Achiever Award which has been recently conferred upon her by UNWOMEN and International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in New York. Chairman, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Dr. Syed Ismail Shah, Managing Director, Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), Asim Shehryar and other board members were also present.—APP
