Ansar Burney condemns execution in Mianwali Jail
ISLAMABAD: The United Nations former Expert Advisor on Human Rights and Chairman of Ansar Burney Trust International, Ansar Burney has condemned execution of a prisoner in Mianwali Jail on Thursday.
According to a press release, Burney said that after rejection of mercy petition from President Asif Ali Zardari and the Army Chief, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, Mohammad Hussain was hanged to death. He said Mohammad Hussain was an Army soldier and sentenced to death in 2009 because he had killed his senior officer Hawaldar Khadim Hussain in 2008 when they were on leave.
Burney said with sorrow and grief that it was the first execution since the current government came into power in 2008 and now it indicates the government has changed its policy which is clear violation of human dignity.
