Another British journalist deported
MIRPUR (AJK): Another British journalist Parry Cimon, who claimed to be a correspondent of the UK-based eveninger ‘Evening Special’, was deported from the territorial jurisdiction of Mirpur AJK by the local law enforcement agencies Thursday night for lack of valid travel documents, official sources said.
“The British journalist was caught at a local hotel staying without valid travel documents,” a local official confirmed the report with a request not to be named. The UK newsman had come to Mirpur in connection with his professional duties to file a story on the head of the UK? ruling Conservative Party, Warsi.
, who allegedly broke rules by taking a business partner on an official visit to Pakistan, but allegedly claimed the expanses from the UK exchequer.
When probed and inquired about the objective of his surprise visit to Mirpur, the local law enforcement authorities found that Cimon’s trip was without valid travel documents, including a no objection certificate (NOC), a primary requirement for a foreigner for any visit and has to be obtained from the Home Department of AJK government.
Police and officials of other law enforcement agencies rushed to the local Hotel, where he had boarding, and advised to Cimon to leave the territory and drove back to Islamabad. He was later escorted by the police to the Mangla Bridge – the gateway to AJK.
It may be added that Cimon was the second British journalist deported from AJK over not carrying valid travel documents during last three days. Earlier, Rob Crilly, the Pakistan-based correspondent of The Daily Telegraph, had to face similar consequences on Wednesday.
