Another bomb hoax at Geo office

KARACHI: Another bomb threat was sent to the Geo News office on Tuesday, which created panic among the staff of Geo Networking. Most of them were of the opinion that it was the enemies of Geo who were trying to divert concentration and stop them from covering the truth.

Last Friday, the Geo news office received a hoax bomb call at about 18:20 hours saying that a bomb had been placed in the building and would be going off at any time. No bomb was found and the call turned out to be a hoax. The caller was identified as Iftikhar Ali, a resident of Gulshan-I-Iqbal, but it was found to be fake.

On Monday, at about 19:30 hours Geo News once again received an anonymous call about a bomb having been planted in the office and programmed to go off at any time.. After receiving the call, the building was once again vacated and law enforcers were called in to search the building only to find it to be a hoax.

Faisal, an employee of Geo, said that some miscreants were trying to create panic among the staffers of Geo as they were airing the truth. But, they said that they were not afraid.

A business tycoon who also came to the Geo office after receiving information about the bomb threat said that it was the enemies of Geo who were trying to discredit it as Geo was covering every issue so accurately.

The TPO, Sadar, Tahir Naveed, said that they just found the number which was U-fone company number but it was not traced yet. As he personally called the U-fone office for the verification of the number they did not cooperate with him and told him that they would check it from their customer service and then after two hours they still had not found the data. Tahir added that most of the cellular companies were issuing their sims at low cost and the shopkeepers were selling these sims without taking the NICs of the purchasers and even not registering the sims on the name of the purchasers. However he was trying to trace the accused behind the hoax call.
