And now music

Pakistan Press Foundation

Sir: Playing music in public transport has been a normal course of entertainment to enjoy what at times become a hard and difficult journey in the public buses of Karachi. Now that respite and diversion is being snatched from the commuters. Lately the public transporters had been asked to stop playing music because of complaints by the women against the practice. The reality is different though. The Taliban in Karachi are said to have asked the transporters to stop playing music as it is against the norms of Islam. So far the traffic police have seized 327 music players and fined 424 vehicles on the first day of rhe crackdown that began Tuesday.
