An Indian production company is set to make a biopic of Benazir Bhutto.
The movie is being planned by Mumbai-based Vishesh Films, reports the Hindustan Times.
The company previously released the ground-breaking Awarapan – the first major film to be released simultaneously in India and Pakistan.
Director Mukesh Bhatt said: “Yes, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has approached us with the idea. The party members connect with our sensibilities and trust us to do justice to the persona of Benazir Bhutto.”
“It will require extensive research. We’ll need to interact with several different people who knew Benezir very closely on a one-to-one basis.”
Shabana Azmi, who recently starred in Dus Kahaniyaan, has already said she would like to play portray Bhutto.
Bhatt said: “We’ll start thinking about the casting only after the final draft of the script is approved. It’s early days yet.”
