Ambreen Jan has been appointed as the Federal Secretary for Information and Broadcasting. The Establishment Division issued a notification confirming Jan’s new role, effective immediately.

Prior to her new role, Jan served as the Executive Director General for the External Publicity (EP) Wing of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.  Jan’s appointment follows an interview conducted by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who personally selected her for this role.

Officers and employees of the ministry have extended their congratulations to her on this appointment. Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Ataullah Tarar, was among those who congratulated Jan on her new assignment.

All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) issued a statement welcoming and congratulating Ambreen Jan on her appointment. APNS President Nazafreen Saigol Lakhani and Secretary General Sarmad Ali expressed their hope that Ambreen Jan would protect and safeguard press freedom while addressing the challenges faced by the print media. They are optimistic that her tenure will maintain the positive relationship between the media and the ministry that was established during Shahera Shahid’s time in office.

They also highlighted the need to resolve pending issues such as the implementation of increased government advertisement rates, boosting the volume of government advertising, and ensuring the payment of outstanding dues.
