Alleged human smuggler held with children

LAHORE, April 27,2005: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on April 26 held an alleged human smuggler with two camel jokeys at Lahore airport. An FIA official told Dawn that Mohammad Ramzan was detained on suspicion of having traveled on fake documents. On checking, it was found that he had two children with him whom he had shown on documents as his sons.

The official said the children, Ashraf (10) and Asghar (11), brothers, told FIA that they had been working as jockeys in Abu Dhabi since 1999. They had been taken to Abu Dhabi by a woman, Nasim Bibi, who then had shown them as her sons.

They said they used to get 500 Dirham a month. “Now we have been termed over age and sent back home,” they said.
