All stakeholders consulted on PEMRA Amendment Bill: Marriyum
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb says all the stakeholders have been consulted on PEMRA Amendment Bill.
Participating in a Private Television talk show on Monday night, she said the procedure to pay journalists’ salaries was mentioned in PEMRA Amendment Bill.
She said it is mandatory to make payments to the journalists and media workers in 60 days. She said as per the Amendments, the Pakistan Broadcasters Association and the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists were given representation in the complaints council.
The Information Minister thanked all the stakeholders for the preparation of the bill and guidance. She said Tribunal Chairman has been appointed for the payments of dues to newspaper workers. To a question, Marriyum Aurangzeb said we did not take any decision without consultation with Joint Action Committee.
Marriyum Aurangzeb said there was no forum available for electronic media. She said consultations regarding this started in April 2022.
