All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) deploring release of draft

KARACHI- The executive committee of the All Pakistan Newspapers Society has expressed concern over the crisis of communication between the government and the APNS and over the attitude and conduct of the ministry of information and the ministry of labour, stated a press release of the APNS.

It said the ministry of information and the ministry of labour were pursuing a nefarious policy of creating a rift between the employers and the employees of the newspaper industry.

Arshad A. Zuberi, secretary general of the APNS, announcing the resolution adopted at the meeting of the executive committee held in Karachi, stated that the ministry of information and the ministry of labour were apparently employing the policy of previous governments of pitching newspaper employees against the publishers.

The executive committee decided to continue its boycott of the Wage Board till such time that the APNS observations were considered and addressed.

The executive committee of the APNS formed a committee under Mr Shakil-ur-Rahman to devise a three-pronged strategy on the basis of suggestions made in the committee to get its objectives realized. It decided to launch a public awareness campaign to educate the masses on the performance of the present set-up with special reference of the newspaper industry.
