All Pakistan Newspapers Society, Akhbar Farosh Federation form joint body to strengthen commission structure across country

KARACHI: The All Pakistan Newspapers Society and All Pakistan Akhbar Farosh Federation (AFF) has agreed to form a joint committee to finalise the demand of the AFF and also form a code of conduct for the distribution system, a press release of the APNS stated.

A meeting of the APNS Distribution, Wholesale & Retail Marketing Committee with the All Pakistan Akhbar Farosh Federation presided over by the Chairman of the Committee Ilyas Shakir was held on October 18 in Lahore. It was attended by office bearers of the federation from all provinces, districts, cities and towns attended.

APNS President Sarmad Ali was also present and considered the demand of the Akhbar Farosh Federation to strengthen the commission structure across the country. The APNS representatives apprised the meeting of the condition of the newspaper industry in the wake of the economic slowdown, devaluation of Pakistani rupee, and increase in the prices of imported inputs as well as production costs. After a marathon meeting, it was decided that a joint committee of members from the two organisations will be formed which will revisit the commission structure and develop recommendations for the standardisation by November 30.

The meeting was attended by Sarmad Ali, Ilyas Shakir, Imtinan Shahid, Mehtab Khan, Jamil Ather, Niloufer Patel, Saadia Shariff and Bilal Mahmood. Ch Nazeer Ahmed, Senior Vice President, Tikka Khan, Secretary General and other office bearers of the All Pakistan Akhbar Farosh Federation attended the meeting.

The meeting was followed by a dinner hosted by the president APNS for the participants of the meeting.
