AIOU gets radio channel licence
ISLAMABAD, April 30, 2005:The government has issued a radio channel licence to the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) with a view to helping students and teachers of mass communication in using modern facilities for practical work and distance learning.
This was stated by Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) Chairman Iftikhar Rashid while speaking at a function held here on April 29.
He said the AIOU was not only imparting education to people through distance learning system but also working with different educational institutions in public as well as private sector on franchise basis for computer and science education.
The Pemra chief hoped that the university would help promote quality education throughout the country by starting the radio service.
