Ahmed Bashir dies
LAHORE – Ahmed Bashir, a senior journalist, writer and filmmaker passed away on December 24 night at the age of 82 in a local hospital after a protracted illness.
Bashir was admitted to the hospital two months ago with diabetes, heart problems and kidney failure. He had been in a coma for the last fifteen days. He leaves behind his wife of over 50 years, Mahmooda Khanam, daughters Neelam Bashir, Sumbal Bashir, Bushra Ansari, Qulzam Bashir and son Humayun Bashir. Writers, intellectuals and prominent personalities from all walks of life rushed to his home to pay their condolences. His funeral will be held on Sunday at his ancestral house in Krishan Nagar.
