Advisor to Sindh CM meets APNS body

KARACHI .Jan 11: Advisor to Chief Minister on Information Salahuddin Haider was invited, for discussion by the Sindh Regional Committee of All PakistanNewspapersSodety (APNS) here on Saturday.

TheAdvisoreinphasisedupon the members tha7t the Government believed in freedom of expression . It does not wish to limit ‘ at in any form but felt that the Government point of view and views of the coalition partners should be projected by the news papers in proper way.

The Committee members included: convener Kazi Asad Abid, publishers of daily Kawish, Awami Awaz, Aghaz, Millat, Financial Post, weekly Paighame-Sindh and about a dozen more presented their problems towhich the advisor gave a very patient hearing and promised to look into these sympathetically.

Almost all members appreciated the policies specially related to advertisements and put on record that substantial improvement was visible in the function­ing of the Information Department.

They extended their wholehearted cooperation to the Department. There were some grievances about the latest Accreditation Policy, Which the Advisor promised to look into in consultation with APNS and CPNE representatives.

The Advisor brought to the notice of the committee that a couple of newspapers were crying hoarse about so called dummy newspapers. The Advisor wanted to know the exact definition of dummy, newspapers and explained to, them that a much larger canvass is being covered by Coverrunent advertisement policies than ever, before. He said that he is trying very, hard to recover from the Finance Department the outstanding for newspapers.
