ADB-funded roads in dilapidated condition

The roads had developed ditches and cracks soon after their construction owing to substandard work but authorities never turned to repair them over the passage of several years.

The other reason for such condition of roads is that cane-laden trucks and tractor trolleys operating in the district for transporting sugarcane to the mills had badly affected these roads and turned them into dilapidated and shabby condition.

The affected roads include Gambat-Agra Road, RazideroDilawar Road, Agra-Razidero Road, Ranipur-Sobhodero Road, Khuhra-Bhatti Road, Noor GothBaharo Road, Khuhra-Ripri Road, Gambat-Tando Masti Road and many other link roads.
The sugar mills were also responsible to repair these roads but they had also turned deaf ear to the appeals of the affected people. Despite passage of several years, authorities were not realizing their responsibilities to repair the roads.

The sugarcane from this area is supplied to Ranipur Sugar Mills and Khairpur Sugar Mills of district Khairpur besides Sakrand Sugar Mills, Nawabshah Sugar Mills, Sadiqabab Sugar Mills and Rohri Sugar Mills.

Not a single penny has been spent to repair these roads since their construction, despite the fact that huge amounts are collected by the authorities from sugar mills as well as growers for this purpose.
