Ad rates for Balochistan newspapers to be enhanced: Anwar

Quetta- Federal Secretary Information Syed Anwar Mahmood said that in view of the special conditions prevailing in the province the advertisement rates for Balochistan newspapers will be enhanced by 25 percent.

He stated this while talking to the editors and senior journalists at an informal meeting with them.

About complaint of non-payment of advertisement bills by certain advertising agencies, he asked the complaints to form a committee and provide him with the details of such cases of further action.

He further promised that facilities extended to the dailies from the province would be allowed to weeklies as well.

About the Press and Publication ordinance (PPO), he said presently the PPO 1963 has been automatically revived after the RPPO lapsed in 1997, but it is not being acted upon. The All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) itself has submitted a draft ordinance to regulate the press which has been sent to the Law Ministry for vetting after, which the same will be submitted to the cabinet for further action.
