Action on newspapers’ complaints
ISLAMABAD- The minister and the secretary of information have initiated the process on the complaints of smaller and regional newspapers which are being deprived of their due share in the government advertisements. The ministry has constituted a three-member audit team to check the record of the distribution of advertisements. The team shall be submitting its report at the earliest possible without wasting further time.
A number of steps have also been taken to streamline the procedures for the audit certification of the circulation through audit bureau of circulation.
It has been reliably learnt that new mechanisms have been developed under the direction of ministry to check and stop the mushroom growth of the dummy newspapers and periodicals so as to encourage genuine and reasonable publications. These steps will encourage the emergence and growth of the genuine press industry within the country.
It has been further learnt that reputed chartered accountant firms are being considered to engage them in random check of circulation figures audited by ABC and disbursement of government advertisements through advertising agencies.
