Acid attack victims to be treated at Karachi

SUKKUR, April 06,2005:District Nazim Sukkur Syed Nasir Hussain Shah instructed the district administra­tion on April 5 to shift Ms Manzooran, her daughter Sonia and her brother Ataullah, who had suffered acid injuries three days ago when Farid Shaikh, Manzooran’s husband, threw acid on them, to a hospital in Karachi.

The district nazim also announced that the district govern­ment Sukkur would bear the expenses of their treatment in Karachi hospital.On Saturday last, April 2, Farid Shaikh, resident of Rohri, threw acid on his wife Manzooran, his daughter Sonia and brother-in­law Ataullah, due to which they were seriously injured. They were admitted to Civil Hospital, Sukkur, in critical condition.

The Rohri police said Manzooran had become fed up with domestic quarrels and had gone to live with her parents. On Saturday morning, Farid Shaikh went to the house of his in-laws and asked his wife Manzooran to accompany him to their house. But his wife refused to go home, and he threw acid on his wife, five­year-old daughter Sonia and his brother-in-law Ataullah.
