Accused in journalist’s murder case remanded

The judicial magistrate (South) on Tuesday remanded an accused in the murder case of senior journalist Murtaza Razvi in police custody till April 30. The face of the accused, Waqas alias Waqar, was covered by police when he was produced before the court.

Razvi, who was a senior assistant editor and head of Dawn’s magazines, was killed on April 19 at an art studio in the Defence Housing Authority in the remit of the Darakhshan police station.

The police informed the court that Waqar’s accomplice was still at large, and would be arrested through information given by the accused.The court directed the investigation officer to produce the accused along with a progress report at the next hearing. Waqar, who was arrested in Gizri on Monday, told the police that he stole the victim’s valuables after murdering him.
