Aafia case: Fee paid to US lawyers before LHC petition
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court was informed on Monday that fee to American lawyers for pursuing Dr.Aafia Siddiqui’s case had been paid before filing of the habeas corpus petition for her release.
A report submitted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday after issue of contempt notice on the application of petitioner Barrister Iqbal Jafree, said that $0.5 million were released for each of the three US lawyers for pursuing the case of Dr Aafia in consultation with her brother Muhammad Ali Siddiqui.
An amount of $0.5 million was released for the administrative expenses.
The court adjourned the hearing till Aug 31.
