A 35-year-old woman expired in the Services Hospital

A 35-year-old woman expired in the Services Hospital on Saturday evening, after she was brought there under the influence and with torture marks on her face. She was identified as Gurya, a mother of three and resident of Block-III Karim Park, Subzazar. Her husband Tanveer had abandoned her some time back, her family told the police.

Police said that Gurya, a singer by profession, was booked to perform at some function but her family did not know as to who booked her or where the function venue was. Police suspected that she died of excessive use of liquor. A girl identified as Majiha admitted her to the hospital and disappeared. The hospital sources said that Gurya was admitted in the medical ward at around 8:46 am on Saturday and she died at 7:30 pm.

The medico-legal of the victim written by Dr. Kanwal describes Guriya was admitted in the hospital with four cuts on her different parts of face. It was learnt that one cut was on her chin, two on both sides of cheeks and one on lower lip.

However, exact cause of her death could not be ascertained as death certificate was not available with the said doctor. The hospital sources said that the in charge of the police check-post concerned was informed and legal action was taken. The body was removed to city morgue for autopsy. The police have not registered a case till the filing of this report as the dispute of jurisdiction was going on among the police officials.
