A 20-year-old girl, identified as “K,” was allegedly gang-raped

A 20-year-old girl, identified as “K,” was allegedly gang-raped by five men within the precincts of the Mobina Town police station. Four of the accused were arrested, while one escaped, when a raid was carried out by a patrolling police mobile.

K is a resident of block-14, F.B. Area, and is the eldest in her family. She started working in a beauty parlour in Gulshan-e-Iqbal a couple of months ago. During this time, she made friends with a colleague of hers, who lived with her husband, Arif, in Ayub Goth near Suparco Road. K used to visit her friend frequently.

On Thursday, she went over to Arif’s house after work. He was alone at home, and said that his family was out shopping and would be back soon. He asked K to wait in a room on the first floor, offered her a glass of soft drink, and went away.

K said that she felt very dizzy after consuming the drink. After a couple of minutes, Arif came into the room and started molesting her. In the meantime, four other people who lived on the ground floor of the house also came into the room. K said that she tried to release herself, but suddenly the four men from the ground floor held her down while Arif proceeded to rape her.

Afterwards, she said, all five men raped her one by one. She later managed to flee, and Arif and another unknown person chased her.

On the way she saw a Madadgar-15 police mobile, and informed them about the situation.

On seeing the police, Arif and the other man tried to escape but Arif was caught by the police while his alleged accomplice escaped. The Mobina Town police were then called in, a raid was conducted, and the other four men accused by K were arrested.

They were taken to the Mobina Town police station, where K recorded her statement, and was referred to a government hospital for a medico-legal examination. Meanwhile, a case was registered against Arif and his co-accused, and all of them were put behind bars.

K’s examination report would be issued today, the Investigation Officer of the case, ASI Riaz Khokhar, said.

Those accused include Javed Iqbal, Akhtar Iqbal, Farasat Ali and Arif, while their accomplice who escaped has been identified as Asif. Raids are being carried out for his arrest, ASI Khokhar said, adding that except for Arif, the other co-accused were all labourers. They rented the ground floor of Arif’s house, and were good friends. Further investigation is underway.
