30-day ban on Dopehar publication

ISLAMABAD (PR)- The chief Commissioner Islamabad, has imposed ban of the publication of daily Dopehar Islamabad for 30 days. The step has been taken for publishing a news caption “Differences in Federal Cabinet.” In a notification issued about this news, it has been said that this news is clearly objectionable which provided the people.

On early Wednesday morning, Station House Officer (SHO) I-9 conveyed the verbal order to the Resident Editor Dopehar, Aqeel Ahmed Tareen and told him that a written order will also be conveyed to him shortly. Later, the police contingents surrounded Dopehar offices and at 9:15 am, AC Islamabad Nabil Tariq conveyed the written orders about the closure of the newspaper for 30 days to Dopehar office.

In connection with the closure of the Dopehar, the Chief Editor Khushnud Ali Khan has written a detailed letter to APNS, CPNE, Editor Nawa-e-Waqt, Majid Nizami, Chief Editor Jang, Mir Shakilur Rehman, convener APNS Committee Punjab, Zia Shahid, and APNS executive committee members about the whole situation.

In the letter, he has said that the government could deny or issue clarification if it deemed the news wrong. We would have been declared guilty if the denial or clarification was not published. He said that closure of the newspaper without issuing any show cause notice is attack on the Press Freedom.
