21 more GPOs to be computerised by June

ISLAMABAD, September 07 2005: Pakistan Postal Services Corporation (PPSC) has initiated work to computerise 21 more general post offices by June next year, according to PPSC Deputy Director General Ghulam Panjtan Rizvi. He told APP in an interview the plan would be carried out within yearly budget allocated by government for machinery and equipment.

There are 80 general post offices (GPOs) in the country. Four have already been equipped with computer technology, Rizvi said adding 21 more GPOs would be computerised by the end of June next.

The Postal Services Network has 11,000 sub-offices around the country, which linked with 80 GPOs, are providing services in every nook and corner of the country, Rizvi said.
