200 free IT awareness centres to be set up in Sindh: Minister

LARKANA:January 02,2005: Provincial Minister for Information Technology (IT),Mustafa Kamal has said 200 free IT awareness centres will be established in Sindh during the next two years.

Talking to reporters at the Circuit House, he said that through these centres poor people could get information about IT.Private sector would also be involved in this scheme, he said.

He said the posts of EDO IT had been created and EDO IT would appointed in each district on contract basis for two years.

He said all departments of the Sindh government would be interconnected during this financial year. Every department will have its own website and people can get information easily.

Kamal said IT training had 3 been given to 15,000 employees of the Sindh government. He said a setup of video conferencing would be established in the office of Sindh chief secretary after which there would be no need for any officer to go to Karachi for meeting.

A sum of Rs 200 million would be spent on the project, he said. The governor, the chief minister and other senior officials would be interconnected, he said.Earlier, the minister inaugurated an IT awareness centre in the People’s Colony here.
