15-year-old bride found dead, 3 others killed

KARACHI: The body of a 15-year-old girl was found from her husband’s house located in Block-H North Nazimabad, Kauser Niazi Colony, within the jurisdiction of the Hyderi Police Post on Wednesday.

Her body was found hanging by a dupatta from the ceiling fan in her room and it appears that she might have committed suicide. The deceased Naheed, got married only five months ago to Nasir out of love. Two months after their wedding, Nasir left the country while his wife stayed back with her in-laws. Naheed’s step father, Rustam said that her biological father had left for Bangladesh after divorcing her mother. Rustam further said that Naheed had been living with her grandmother and fell in love with Nasir. According to Rustam, Naheed had once eloped with Nasir and threatened to do so again if she was not married to him. Naheed’s family agreed and she got married to Nasir. The deceased’s mother-in-law said that Naheed was happy with her married life but seemed confused after Nasir left the country. Naheed’s mother in-law said that she did not have any disputes with anyone. “After returning from her mother’s house on Tuesday Naheed arrived into the house and slept with me,” the mother-in-law said. “After waking up, she had breakfast and went to her room,” she added. Naheed’s mother and brother in-law were at home when the incident took place. Her mother-in-law informed the police after she saw Naheed’s body. The deceased was taken to a private hospital and was later shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities. The police was unable to ascertain why she might have committed suicide. “At the moment we cannot tell if she committed suicide, the case is in progress,” the police said. Meanwhile, DSP Mirza Majeed Baig issued a show-cause notice to the Hyderi PP Incharge Sub-inspector Sibtain for a delay in informing him about the incident.

Student crushed to death: An intermediate student was crushed to death by a minibus while he was going to college in the morning on Wednesday.

A police official said that the incident occurred near Qayyumabad Bridge within the jurisdiction of Defence Police Station when the deceased, Panwan Kumar, 19, son of Paryal Lal, was crossing the road. A speeding passenger minibus, of route No F-11, hit him. As a result, he died on the spot while the unidentified driver responsible for the accident fled. The deceased was a resident of Korangi Bhittai Colony area. The police managed to take the bus into custody. Kumar’s body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center from where his family took it away to their hometown, Tharparkar, for burial. No FIR was registered.

Similarly, Ibrahim Ramzan, 33, died in a road mishap that took place at the Allah Wala bus stop within the jurisdiction of New Karachi Industrial Area Police Station. Police officials said that the accident took place when a motorcyclist first hit Ramzan, who fell on the road and was then hit by a Shehzoor truck. Ramzan’s body was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities.

Man killed in SITE: A man was killed in a firing incident that took place on Wednesday within the jurisdiction of the SITE Police Station.

The incident took place early in the afternoon when an unidentified armed man shot 55-year-old Ahmed Khan. Khan was standing outside his house in Bhawani Chali, SITE area when the incident took place. Khan received a bullet to the head, said DSP Rao Iqbal.

The assailant managed to evade arrest. Iqbal quoted Khan’s family members as saying that the incident was the consequence of a domestic dispute. Khan was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and was later handed over to his family members. The deceased was a plumber by profession and was the father of three children. A case has been registered against the unidentified assailant.
