15 call centres to be set up in Karachi

KARACHI, April 20,2005: The Sindh IT Minister, Mustafa Kamal said on April 20 that up to 15 call centres of 200 to 900 seats would be set-up during the next few months. He was expressing his views at the inaugural ceremony of 200-seat call centre established at the Pakistan Institute of Management Technology (PIMSAT) on April 20.

Kamal said that the provincial government wants to streamline the IT on modern lines in the province and thus help bring about a revolution ‘in this field.”The results of such efforts have started coming to the fore and in the next few months some 10 to 15 call centres would be established. These would have a capacity of 200 to 800 seats each,” he added.

He further said that the efforts are aimed at to mould this metropolis as Cyberachi in some two years’ time. The minister pointed out that by promoting this sector the menace of unemployment among the educated youths would be brought to an end.
