0.3m saplings to be planted on Earth Day
KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has said that with the cooperation of more than 20 departments under the programmed of Green Karachi for Peaceful Karachi 0.3mn saplings would be planted throughout the city. He was speaking at his office on Saturday in a meeting held regarding Green Karachi for Peaceful Karachi. He said that this programme would help us improve the behaviour of citizens as well as beauty of the city and help reduce air & environmental pollution. The commissioner said that two committees of experts have been established to take care of the saplings to be planted in industrial areas, schools, universities, colleges, grounds, courts, hospitals and highways. He said that after three months of the drive a big festival would be organised to give Best Planter awards to participants of the drive. The meeting was also told that saplings have already been planted in more than 80 schools.
