‘Welfare centre’ for female prisoners

Sindh Minister for Human Rights, Nadia Gabol, has proposed the establishment of a ‘Women Welfare CentreÂ’ at the Central Prison Karachi (CPK) for the relief and welfare of women. The centre would impart skill development training to the women prisoners so they can earn their livelihood. According to a press statement, Gabol visited the prison on Saturday during which the IG Prisons, Yameen Khan, briefed her about the various measures adopted so far for the welfare of the prisoners.

Appreciating the functioning of a computer laboratory in the prison, besides other facilities, she proposed that proper arrangements should be made to provide at least primary education to the juvenile prisoners.
